Tiana Ohara is a 20-year-old guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter. The Los Angeles native began her musical journey when she picked up the guitar for the first time at age seven. It was as if the guitar and the girl had an instant click and connection. As time went on, her musical curiosity increased and she self-taught herself how to play the drums, piano, and bass guitar.
From 2012-2016, Tiana attended the Music and Performing Arts Academy at Alexander Hamilton High School to further develop her musical skills. Taking full advantage of the renowned magnet program,Tiana filled her schedule with music classes.
In 2014, Tiana attended the California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) as a student of the music department.This is where Tiana discovered her love for jazz and creating original music. At the end of the immersive arts program, Tiana was one of three out of 80 musicians awarded with a Herb Alpert Emerging Young Artists Award and partial college scholarship.
After graduating high school in 2016, Tiana attended The New School in New York City for a year to study jazz and contemporary music with an emphasis in jazz guitar performance. Tiana studied privately with jazz guitar virtuoso Vic Juris during her time in NYC.
Tiana continues to hone her craft and follow her passion in Los Angeles. She recently played Austin City Limits with Fatai and is currently touring with Queen Naija.
